The Business of Health course was created in 2019 as a result of further development of the first health finance eLearning package.
The new course builds on the earlier one, but is now designed for all leaders in health, with many shared modules, and some modules specific only to either finance staff or clinical staff.
The course also covers all Australian States & Territories, which is reflective of the rapid member growth since the initial program.
This was a strategic objective in building capability, capacity and professional pathways in the 2017-2021 HFMA Strategic Plan.
This course aims to educate health leaders in thinking about health as a business. Quality and safety of patient care is always the priority, but the two are not mutually exclusive. In fact, excellent care is often more efficient and cheaper than good or poor care. Conversely, higher cost care does not mean the care is higher quality.
The course is modular; the modules are displayed in the suggested completion order.
Commonwealth Funding must be completed before your State or Territory funding module.
Each module should take approximately two hours to complete, earning you 2 CPD points.
This course is suitable for finance staff new to health finance, non-finance leaders, and aspiring non-finance leaders as well as nursing unit managers and other clinical managers.
Available 24/7 with a course duration deadline of 6-12 months.
